⭐️🌛 THERESA SNYDER☄️☄️☄️☄️
This week my guest is Theresa Snyder, multi-genre indie author. Tell us Theresa, when and how did you first come to publish your own books?
I was told by my writing group that I should try self-publishing. At first I made excuses. “I didn’t know how to do it,” “I didn’t have the money,” and “I didn’t know if I was ready.” They were all younger then me and helped me through the process. It didn’t cost me anything but time. I was first published in 2013. I now have twenty books in print.
Which genres do you write in and do you have a favorite?
I write fantasy, paranormal, scifi and memoirs to date. I may expand into different genres in the future. As to my favorite genre, I tend to love the one I am writing in at the moment.
Which genre are you writing in currently and tell us about the book.
I am writing the fourth book in my Twin Cities Series, “Shifting from Darkness into Light.” The series is paranormal, but unlike any paranormal you might have read in the past.
What makes it different and tell us a little about the series.
The Twin Cities Series is a collaborative effort between five authors. We all got together a few years back to brainstorm a setting in which we all could write with our own set of characters and some characters we would all share.
The series is set in The Realms, a hidden world where all things humans think are paranormal, magical, mystical, or fantastical actually live. My books are from the point of view of a shape shifter who takes the form of a wolf. Much of the story is seen from a wolf’s point of view.
These are great 90 minute reads. Super books to help travel time pass quickly, for a relaxing evening by the fire, or for a quiet afternoon read on the beach.
A book is no longer limited to a specific genre shelf with the popularity of ebooks. It is now quite easy to label place an ebook in multiple genres (i.e. YA, Fantasy, Horror). How do you see this affecting your books?
I think the ‘Shifting’ books could fall into multiple genres. They are paranormal due to setting, but some of the characters are fantasy and there is definitely a bit of romance running through them. I think this type of writing might make it difficult for a reader to find a specific genre book, but I also think it stretches a reader’s focus. They might find they like romance if it is tempered in a fantasy setting. Or they might enjoy paranormal if there is not a lot of violence like some straight paranormal might present to them. I like a mixture of several genres.
Finally, share the titles of the Twin Cities series and a synopsis of each one with my readers?
The first in the series is “Shifting in The Realms” an #1 Amazon Bestseller. Cody is a shape shifter with some monumental problems that all started when he died. He’s escaped to The Realms from the midlands between Heaven and Hell only to find his best friend is potential food for the resident vampires, his girlfriend only loves him in his wolf form and her mother…well that’s a whole other story. It isn’t easy being Cody, but like a good wolf he’ll do what he can to protect his pack even if it kills him. Wait…he’s already dead.
Book two is “Shifting Agony & Ecstasy.” Cody’s a shape shifter who has lost his job, but that isn’t anything compared to the fact that Simone, the love of his life, is lusting after another guy. On top of that, Cody’s best friend, Pete, thinks he’s being lazy. If Cody could only tell him the reason why, he knows Pete would understand, but there are always secrets in The Realms. And Azur, Simone’s mom, has caught Cody in a compromising position with her daughter, which is pretty scary considering what Azur really is in her free time. Life is tough in The Realms for a shape shifting wolf, and it just keeps getting tougher.
Book three is “Shifting Places.” Mr. Grimm wants his daughter back. Raven kidnapped Angelica over eighteen years ago. The vampire ruler holds her as hostage, blackmailing Grimm to do his bidding with the threat of ‘turning’ her. Mr. Grimm has witnessed an event. He believes with the help of Azur, the fire demon and Cody, the shape shifter, he might finally rescue his daughter. The team of three must travel through the many portals of The Realms; through the land of the Yeti, across the sands of the Pharaohs and into the stronghold of the Minotaur. But, will the rescue of Angelica mean the death of one of Cody’s pack? Simone has been left alone, unprotected.
