What inspires you?
I am inspired by everything; life experiences, music, art, films, literature, poetry, a stranger who gives a friendly greeting, my family and friends, the list goes on and on. Even the ugly side of life has inspiration within it.
What is your next release?
My next release is Find Me In Heaven, it is different from This Beautiful Curse in that it is a full length, inspirational romance novel. Fans of fantasy will love it.
What gave you the idea for This Beautiful Curse?
My first love is poetry. I had been sharing some thoughts for a collaborative effort with a group of artist friends, to see what they thought of an illustrated fairy tale for grown ups, something dark and edgy, yet whimsical. They loved the idea and began sending me illustrations before I even knew what I was going to write! I took all the amazing artwork they’d sent, stared at each image, and the story soon flowed.
What do you do when you’re not writing?
Housework, mom errands, and coffee. Lots and lots of coffee!
What is your current WIP?
I’m currently working on a Paranormal YA story involving a young, abused girl and a spirit who protects her. I anticipate its release sometime this fall.

ABOUT KRIS
Kris Johnston is a proud native of Southern California, a single mom, and a former hairstylist. She wears many hats, such as; teacher, chef, chauffeur, nursemaid, life coach, cheerleader, therapist, and story teller (and those are just the hats she wears for her children!). She began writing poetry at the age of 8 and it remains her first, true love to this day. Inspired as a teenager by authors such as Anne Rice, Stephen King , Edgar Allan Poe, and Dean Koontz, she delved heavily into the darker side of writing until giving it up for motherhood in her early 20s. She didnβt stray far, however, as poetry got her through some of her biggest, most difficult life experiences until she was able to return to writing full time. Blessed with a new independence and empowered outlook, she strives to use her writing as a voice for women who may feel like they have lost their own, while exploring ideas of spirituality, self-love, and forgiveness. When she isnβt writing or drinking ungodly amounts of coffee, she can be found singing (badly) to her favorite rock station or doing neverending mom things.
