fros from kindleWhat are you working on at the moment?

I have a couple of projects lined up from now till Christmas. The main one is the publication of The Storm (book 3 in The Lady of the Pier trilogy) in December, and I also hope to publish shortly after that a short called Poetry from The Lady of the Pier, which is a total of ten poems featured in the trilogy, plus a bonus short story. I plan to make this a freebie across all sales venues as to attract new readers to the series.

What else do you have in the pipeline?

I am planning to translate The Necklace of Goddess Athena into Greek, hopefully to publish it in 2016. For my next book, I have chosen a romantic comedy set on a Greek island and I hope to start writing this in early 2016. Other than humorous it’ll also be quirky, involving an angel, but that’s all I’ll say for now!

Are there any favorite objects you have on your workstation for inspiration?

Other than a tiny brass owl with big blue eyes that I’ve picked up from Plaka in Athens, there is nothing else on my desk worth a mention. I do have a pinboard though, where I pin urgent reminders and printouts of my book covers to keep me focused and committed to my projects. Also, I pin post-it notes with quotes that inspire me. These days, there’s one of my favorites on it: “I am not a drop in the ocean, I am the ocean in a drop.”

If you could have one superpower what would it be?

I’d love to be able to touch someone and relieve pain, as well as heal in general.

What’s on your reading list right now?

Novels of various genres, mainly by fellow indie authors that I support and admire, such as Jackie Weger, David Wind, Carmen De Sousa and Mike Markel. I also have a few traditionally published books lined up to read next, like The Sunrise by Victoria Hislop (I’ve read all her books, she’s amazing!) as well as A Gathering Storm by Rachel Hore who writes spell-binding historical fiction.

Any movies that you really want to see?

My answer to this question is always the same: the next one starring Robert Pattinson. At the moment, I’m bursting to watch Queen of the Desert and Life. I’ve watched the trailers and can’t wait. They both look awesome!

Why do you love Pattinson so much? You keep talking about him!

I admire him because there is a vulnerability in his voice and manner that makes him unique. Also, his angry face is astounding; it gives me goosebumps. The scene where he throws Christine Scott Thomas out of his house in Bel Amie is out of this world. What is an actor if he can’t move you, right? Also, he inspires all the vulnerable romantic heroes in my books. If they ever make it into movies, Rob has to be cast, it’s only fair, LOL

Besides writing and reading, what is your most favorite thing to do?

I love the sea so I enjoy swimming, or just being on the shore, drinking in its murmur.

Do you have any advice for other indie authors?

First of all, my advice is to be courteous and respectful at all times. Don’t post publicly to rant and disrespect others, especially your reviewers. Study online grammar and proofreading rules. So many indie books are strewn with typos and bad syntax, it’s shocking how these authors allow themselves such low standards. I spent two years educating myself on grammar and proofreading rules reading online and made my books polished to a shine and it cost me nothing. With the internet at our fingertips, anything less is plain laziness. Another practice that’ll help you write better books: give them to beta readers. We authors are blind to our own mistakes because the words are already in our brains so they don’t register. Give your book the benefit of fresh pairs of eyes. You’ll be astounded by the amount of typos you’ve been missing. Stephen King advises to leave your first draft for six weeks and only then to start editing. This is how long it takes for your mind to approach it objectively again. Also, I advise authors not to ask authors for reviews or even worse, to exchange reviews. Too many hairy stories to mention. There are loads of sites that list reviewers. Try this list, for example: http://www.theindieview.com/indie-reviewers/

Last, I advise your readers to check out this post on my site:

It includes a free download. It’s a list of sites and Facebook pages where you can submit your free book at zero cost. The list has won me thousands of downloads during my free promos.

Thank you, Tammy, for this opportunity!
